Staying Safe And ConnectedIt order to stay safe while riding a motorcycle for instance, you will want to make sure and wear a helmet. First and foremost, helmets are designed to protect an individual’s head, and more importantly brain from injury. Brain injuries are very common in bike accidents especially and a helmet is good protection for when you fall down. The brain affects everything you do so you want to be sure and protect it very well. Even a small brain injury can cause an individual to become paralyzed or even worse, die.

Another great benefit of wearing a helmet is that it can help you stay connected. What do I mean by this? What I mean is that you can have a bluetooth helmet. Not only can you talk on your cell phone through your helmet therefore keeping you connected, but you can also intercom with other riders or listen to music as well. That’s some pretty cool technology! Wearing a helmet is essential in order to help protect your head against any sort of injury that may occur. Wearing a helmet is so important that in some areas it is the law, and you can get in trouble if you don’t wear one while riding your bike or similar motor vehicle.

Believe it or not, the government has even made safety regulations concerning bike helmets. When looking to buy a helmet, looks for ones that have a Consumer Product Safety Commission sticker on them letting you know they pass the test and meet all the necessary requirements.

Another thing you want to keep in mind is making sure your helmet fits properly. When purchasing your helmet, open it up in the store and ask a sales associate help you to fit the straps to fit your head correctly. You don’t want it to be too big or too small for obvious reasons because then it is less effective. Once you purchase a helmet, and have it fitted for your head, you need to learn the proper way to wear a helmet. Your helmet should be level atop your head, and cover your forehead properly.

Make sure to always ensure that the straps are fastened or else it won’t stay atop your head. Helmets are typically made of lightweight foam inside and covered with a hard plastic shell. They come in many different colors and designs so choose one that fits your unique style. You may think wearing a helmet is dorky, but when it saves your life I can guarantee you’ll be singing a different tune!
